Preschool Ocean Activties: Read "Dirty Oceans" from First Encyclopedia of Seas and Oceans. Explore internet links about oceans if you have a computer. Read and do "Oil Rigs" from The Great Undersea Search. To see how oil floats on the surface of the ocean, get a clear plastic bowl and put four cups of water mixed with 8-10 drops of blue food coloring in it. Next pour 1/2 cup vegetable oil in the bowl. Observe how the oil sits on the top of the water. After it has completely separated, you can even carefully dip the tip of a spoon in the top layer and skim off some oil.
